Financial Exploitation
Specialist Position Funded
The United
States Administration on Aging has approved the grant application to establish
a financial exploitation project at Temple University/ Harrisburg Campus.
Part of that grant application includes funds to be allocated to the Area
Agencies on Aging serving Allegheny and Philadelphia counties to retain an
additional investigator in each county. The investigator to be retained in
Philadelphia will be housed at Philadelphia Corporation for Aging and will
focus primarily on financial exploitation cases.
The candidate
will ideally have substantial prior experience in criminal, or fraud
investigation involving misappropriation of funds and other assets. The primary
objective of this part of the grant is to determine whether having an experienced
fraud investigator focus primarily on financial exploitation cases, increases
a resolution of financial exploitation cases. Also whether a seasoned
investigator is better able to handle cases, such that law enforcement will
be more likely to actively prosecute these cases.
The specific
amounts set aside in the grant for each of these two positions is $32,000
annually plus fringes. While the funding is on a year to year basis, the
plan is to conduct a program over three years.
