From The President
As I complete
my fourth and final year as president of the Philadelphia Area Chapter of
the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Inc. there are many people
I need to thank for their help and inspiration. I would like to specifically
thank the Chapter officers and directors, without whose help, I would not
have been able to provide the leadership and guidance our chapter needed
during my term of office. Like any good functioning organization, it is always
a team effort and not the result of any one individual.
During the
past four years, the Philadelphia Area Chapter has become one of the largest
chapters of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. We have established
a very informative and successful website to provide, our members and the
general public, learning opportunities, information regarding the Association
of Certified Fraud Examiners, the CFE program, and credential, fraud resources
and fraud related links to help detect and prevent fraud. Since the inception
of the website, we have received e-mail requests for help solving allegations
of fraud from various individuals, companies, and organizations within the
United States and from throughout the world. With the help of my fellow
directors, we try to respond to all these e-mails and provide guidance to
the senders. Our Chapter training schedule and the caliber of our speakers,
both for the luncheon meetings and our All-Day Fraud Training Conference,
have been the envy of to the local CFE Chapters around the country. We have
received numerous requests to help chapters setting up their training programs
and instructing them on how to solicit speakers and market the events. As
the reputation of the Philadelphia Area Chapter of CFEs continues to grow,
we constantly receive requests to provide speakers on fraud related topics.
In looking
back on my involvement with the Philadelphia Area Chapter during the past
ten years, I am grateful for the opportunity to have become a member of this
organization. Gaining my CFE designation and being able to serve as an officer
and director has been both a challenging and rewarding experience. I encourage
all the members of the Philadelphia Area Chapter of the Association of Certified
Fraud Examiners to get involved. Volunteer for a committee, be a speaker,
recommend a speaker, write an article for the newsletter or consider becoming
a Chapter Director. It is only through the efforts and involvement of the
membership that our Chapter will continue to flourish.
